Shim swaps

I have asked about this in the past what with the price of shims and the shops do not ‘swap’ anymore.
I am after 2,85, 2.95, 3.05 and 3.25 and will swap if anyone is interested. I have 12 shims from 2.50 up to 3.15 which I can swap.

Simon, yes I remember this being floated in the past and there is clearly some interest around for this. I’ll be looking for a way to set something up across this
forum… some sort of database of who’s got what, or at the very least who has something so people can get in touch then they are looking for shims.

I do think it’s an initiative that the Club as a whole should look at.
Can anyone suggest ideas how this might operate??

I would be interested in this service to, I want to check my R engine this year.
I have 16 spare shims plus of course the 16 in my R and 16 in a spare 1100F engine. I will check the sizes I have and post the results here, I will also call Simon if any are good for him.
Maybe in the garage section we could all just list our shim stock for all to read and just delete/relist as we swap them between ourselves.

I can help you all with many shimms between 2.70 and 3.20 mm.

I have a chest full of shims, inexcess of 100 shims.

I could do a shim swap. If you send your shims, with a stamped addressed envelope, I will return required shims.

Hi, Steve,

No problem, same deal. If you send shims, with SAE. I can send replacements on return.
If you require more accuracy, there are shims between sizes, due machineing tolerances.

I have a fully range stock of shims, and can offer “Shim Swapshop”!

Getting thin on the ground of the smaller sizes.

If you want to send Shims, with a sae, with the required sizes. I can return. If you give the exact size you require I can try to match – as there are slight variations in sizes.

Hi Steve, thanks I think I have had some shims from you before but it was your business address that you gave me. I have now made a note of this address. I have just set up the bike using some shims you sent me so I expect i will be in touch again next year
